About the nerd

Hi, Im Jake. I’m 19 years old and live in Sterling Heights, Michigan. As said before, I’m a nerd, but that is NEVER a bad thing.

Currently, I’m a first year at Wayne State University (sophomore status) for Biomedical Engineering. I am also in the Honors College.

Music is a big part of me. I love transcribing songs that have piano parts, I play violin, piano, trumpet, trombone, mallet percussion, guitar, and bass. I was part of my high school’s marching band, orchestra, and jazz band. In orchestra, I’m a 1st violin. In jazz, im the lead trombone. Currently, I’m in Wayne State’s marching band playing the trombone and I plan on trying out for section leader or drum major for next year. Tim Minchin is my favorite pianist of all time. He is funny, and fantastically talented. Jimmy Page is my favorite guitarist, Geddy Lee is my favorite bassist, and Neil Peart is my favorite drummer.

As far as sports, I grew up playing soccer (goalie), but I always wanted to play hockey, but my dad never let me. I feel like I would’ve been a better goalie in hockey than soccer, but it’s whatever. I follow the Detroit Red Wings like it’s my religion, and no matter how they do, I will always support them.

I’ve always been put on the back rack when it comes to girls, but I got really lucky when I was 16 and found a girl that I feel I could spend the rest of my life with. Our relationship is quite solid, but there are certain parts of my relationship that I can only talk about to certain people (nothing bad, just…different lol). 

As far as the things that fall under the “nerd” category, I love Doctor Who, Star Wars, The Big Bang Theory, Harry Potter, etc etc etc. ThinkGeek is such a fun place to be on ^__^. In high school, I went for half of my school day to an advanced math/science school called the Utica Center for Mathematics, Science, and Techonology. That place was a conglomeration of some pretty cool nerds (irony, eh?).

My favorite video games are Kingdom Hearts(absolute favorite), classic Spyro, Mario Kart (any version), Super Smash Bros. (N64), assorted sports video games (mostly NHL and Madden), and the LEGO Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter games.

Also, like everyone, I have celebrity crushes. First: Emma Watson. Oh my God she is fantastic. She’s a great actress, beautiful, and is amazingly fantasticly awesome. Oh, and she’s british. LOVE british accents. Second: Karen Gillan: Again, another great actress, hot, ginger (i have a red-head guilty pleasure lol), and makes Doctor Who fantastic. I wish she would never leave the show. Also, her scottish accent is pretty good too ;D. Third: Natalie Portman: do i even need to explain? Shes fantastic XD

And you can probably tell by some of the stuff i post, but I’m not religious. I’m agnostic leaning atheist. Sure, I think there is no way of actually telling if there is a deity (unless we can prove String/M theory), but I really don’t think that there is a higher power anyways. I grew up Roman Catholic (cause I’m 100% polish), and going through all that crap of being confirmed and such just didn’t appeal to me once it was over. I just couldn’t see how a higher power could be a thing, let alone it caring so much about the human race. But yeah, I won’t be in your face about it like a stereotypical Atheist, but if you piss me off or insult my beliefs, I will go all logic on your ass.

Oh, and useless fact: my favorite musical key is C# minor. It’s so cool sounding and dark and just….awesome XD I can’t explain it. No, I’m not an emo person or something, I just really like it.

Also, I watch Scrubs, Seinfeld, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, and many other TV shows that I don’t feel like rattling off

Favorite single movie: 3-way tie between Forrest Gump and Dead Poets Society and V for Vendetta
